Reid Atkinson

Reid Atkinson serves as the Marching Director and Associate Director of Bands at Vista Ridge High School. In addition to overseeing the marching program, his teaching responsibilities include conducting the Wind Symphony and overseeing the student leadership program. Under his direction the Ranger Band was honored to be named the 2018 UIL 6A State Champions as well as finalists at BOA Austin and San Antonio Super Regional. In addition to his duties at Vista Ridge HS, He serves as a leadership facilitator with the SASi Leadership Company where he spends his summers presenting leadership trainings to students across the state of Texas.

Prior to his appointment at Vista Ridge, Mr. Atkinson served as the Director of Bands at Grain Valley High School in Missouri. His concert bands received consistent superior ratings at the state festival and was honored as the 2014 and 2018 Missouri Music Educators Association 4A Honor Band. The marching band earned multiple AA Division Championships and BOA Super Regional Finals performances including a Top 5 finish at the St. Louis Super Regional in 2017. In 2016 the Marching Eagles were honored to perform in the 90th Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade which included a featured performance on the Today Show. In 2015, Reid was recognized as Missouri’s “Outstanding Young Music Educator” by the Missouri Music Educators Association.

Mr. Atkinson resides in Leander, Texas with his wife Alison, daughter Ainsley and son Paxton.
